sometimes i don't even know what i'm saying...
i often contradict myself
To see a World in a grain of sand,
And a Heaven in a wild flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand,
And Eternity in an hour.

ignorance is bliss?
ignorance is bliss.is it? all the stories you read about. all the stories you hear. all the stories you don't really want to know about. maybe ignorance really is bliss, and knowledge brings with it a painful burden.if you can't enjoy the blissfulness of ignorance, is pretence the next best thing?

Knowledge is power! Supposedly...
What do you know that you'd prefer not having known?
If you are truly ignorant, then I guess you'll be truly blissful. That's when you don't know that you don't know. It's when you know that you don't know, that's when you can't enjoy the blissfulness of ignorance, becos that means there's a knowing lack of knowledge.
But when you already know and yet you have to pretend that you don't know, that's a horrible feeling. I don't think I like that. I'd rather not know in the first place than to pretend that I don't know.
What am I talking about? I'm just pretending that I know.
"Knowledge is power!"
true. but that depends what kind of knowledge that is. if you come across something that you would rather not know, something that adds no value to your life, other than misery.
truly crazy people are unaware that people see them as mad or idiotic. living in a world of their own, without a care. is that happiness?
what are hermits? living a life cut off from everyone else. they don't get news of the disasters, sufferings that plague the world. are they happier then? if ignorance for them is bliss, then does ignorance comes at a price? loneliness.
how do you choose the 'knowledge' that comes your way (disregarding the ones that you knowingly seek through education or media, etc)? what if knowledge is forced on to you? what if you stumble unwittingly onto knowledge you would rather avoid?
how do you decide?
How do you decide what adds value to your life and what doesn't? Even if it doesn't add value, it may not necessarily add misery. Many times, they're just... junk...
What's your definition of crazy? People with mental problems, or what? Whatever. Maybe they're really happy in their own world. Who are we, unhappy mortals, to use our so-called values to judge whether they're happy?
Hermits are happy. They know not what they need not know. Do we really need to know that the rest of the world is suffering when many a time, there isn't much that we can do to help. Today's news just fade off tomorrow as yesterday's news. Diasters are what's happening "in the other part of the world, so poor thing, come let's watch something else". And by the way, I think real hermits are not lonely. They trive on solitude.
I guess we can't choose what knowledge comes our way. We can only choose how we handle them.
" I guess we can't choose what knowledge comes our way. We can only choose how we handle them."
very pragmatic approach.
so in short, can we conclude that ignorance is bliss, with a disclaimer "only for the likes of the crazy & hermits". such blissful luxury of life are not meant for mere mortals like us.
