idealism - realism = cynicism

sometimes i don't even know what i'm saying...
i often contradict myself
To see a World in a grain of sand,
And a Heaven in a wild flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand,
And Eternity in an hour.

5 signs that tell you it's time to quit

(many thanks to my dear friends who have shown a keen interest in my toilet activity. i'm happy to report that though it was a rough ride, the mission has been successful thus far. minus the occassional giddy spells and nausea, i'm recovering pretty well from my bout of gastric flu)

hungry. am waiting for colleagues to buy back lunch. the bosses are out for lunch so we are gonna have our own little 'party'. hee. while waiting, came across this article:

Should You Stay or Should You Go?

hmm. here are the 5 signs:

1. You truly hate what you do.

ok. i don't exactly hate what i do. i do enjoy certain aspects of my job, especially when i first started. but unfortunately, the love curve has been on the decline since and dipping quite low recently. so, i guess the cons outweigh the pros.

2. You asked for a raise and the answer was "no."

not quite applicable since i didn't exactly asked for more $$. but the pay rise each year is quite sad.

3. You work for a company you don't respect.

hmmm. how about i work for a company with a big boss i don't quite admire?

4. You work for a company that doesn't respect you.

respect. how do you define respect? i definitely don't feel appreciated. often sidelined.

maybe i'm being petty. but till now i still can't get over the fact that when LL went on maternity last year, they refused to get a temp in and i had to cover 2 pp duties. it was only during the last couple of weeks that a temp gal came in but then to cover the extra admin for the last-minute project. still feel that it's not fair.

5. You're bored to death and not challenged.

how do you work on new projects when your hands and feets are tied down?

maybe it is time to go. yah. have been contemplating for almost a year. i should really get to doing it. i know i should.
